Adolescence and Mental Health
Being a teenager is great. Adolescence is a beautiful and exciting stage in a person’s life when they begin to find their sense of “self,” gain more freedom, take risks, make mistakes, and learn.
However, it can also be a stressful time. Many drastic physical, psychological, and cognitive changes happen during this period, and it’s not always a smooth ride.
For that reason, many teenagers suffer from mental health problems. Statistics show that one in three adolescents will experience an anxiety disorder.
Depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders are among the leading causes of illness and disability among teenagers worldwide.
Failing to address these mental health problems has consequences that extend to adulthood.
In particular, they impair a teenager’s physical and mental health and limit their opportunities to lead a happy and fulfilling life as an adult.
They are goal-oriented. I feel like I have something to check off.
